Deep Well Pump Factory Testing: What Buyers Should Check Before Shipment

berita perusahaan terbaru tentang Deep Well Pump Factory Testing: What Buyers Should Check Before Shipment

When customers order a deep well pump from us, the model number is only one part of the delivery. Before shipment, we also need to confirm that the pump, motor and supplied accessories match the approved duty and electrical specification.

This is especially important for export projects. After a pump is lowered into a well, correcting the wrong voltage, cable length or hydraulic configuration becomes expensive.

At SLAPK, we test submersible pumps before delivery. Buyers should still define the records they expect because routine inspection and a witnessed factory acceptance test are not the same scope.

Start With the Approved Order Data

Factory testing should begin with the confirmed technical order, not with a general catalogue page.

Before we prepare a test plan, we check:

  • Pump model and quantity

  • Required flow and total head

  • Motor power

  • Rated voltage, frequency and phase

  • Pump material

  • Number of stages

  • Discharge connection

  • Pump and motor diameter

  • Cable size and length

  • Starting method or VFD requirements

  • Supplied control panel and accessories

The nameplate, test record and packing list should refer to the same configuration. Similar model names can still use different motors, materials or electrical supplies.

1. Visual and Dimensional Inspection

The first inspection is straightforward but important. We check the general condition of the pump and compare its main dimensions with the order.

The review can include:

  • Pump and motor outside diameter

  • Overall pump length

  • Outlet size and connection type

  • Cable outlet and cable protection

  • Fasteners and coupling points

  • Intake screen

  • Surface condition and identification marks

  • Nameplate information

For a borehole project, outside diameter is critical. The pump may perform correctly on the test stand but still be unsuitable if the complete assembly cannot pass through the minimum casing diameter.

The inspection should include protruding cables, guards and joints, not only the pump body.

Our cast QJ pumps and stamped SP pumps use different manufacturing methods. QJ hydraulic components are produced through casting, while SP hydraulic components use stamped construction. The inspection points therefore differ in detail, but both products must match the approved dimensions and material configuration.

2. Motor and Electrical Tests

A submersible motor should be checked before it is connected to the final pump assembly and again as required after assembly.

Depending on the motor and agreed inspection scope, the records may include:

  • Winding resistance

  • Resistance balance between phases

  • Insulation resistance

  • Withstand-voltage testing

  • No-load current

  • Rotation direction

  • Rated voltage and frequency confirmation

  • Cable continuity and protective-conductor checks

Results should be evaluated using the motor specification and test procedure. A number without its test conditions may not be useful.

For three-phase motors, buyers should also confirm the required connection and starting method. Direct starting, star-delta starting, a soft starter and a VFD do not create the same motor-lead and control requirements.

If a VFD will be used, we request its model and operating range. Long cables may affect the required filter, reactor and protection arrangement.

3. Hydraulic Performance Testing

The most useful hydraulic test confirms whether the pump can produce the required flow and head at the specified speed.

During a performance test, the measured items may include:

  • Flow rate

  • Total head or discharge pressure

  • Motor current

  • Input power

  • Pump speed or supply frequency

  • Voltage

  • Efficiency, when included in the agreed test scope

For a standard order, the factory may verify the required operating point. A project-specific FAT may include several points across the curve.

The test point should be compared with the approved pump curve and permitted tolerance. Buyers should not approve a pump from pressure alone. Flow and head must be considered together, and the test frequency must match the ordered frequency.

For multistage QJ and SP pumps, stage count directly affects head. The tested assembly should therefore use the same stage configuration that will be shipped.

4. Noise, Vibration and Rotating Components

Unusual noise or vibration can indicate an assembly, balance, alignment or bearing problem. These conditions should be investigated before packing.

SLAPK's quality-control process includes rotor dynamic-balance and impeller static-balance checks. During assembled operation, we also pay attention to:

  • Stable rotation

  • Abnormal mechanical noise

  • Excessive vibration

  • Shaft or coupling condition

  • Bearing behavior

  • Loose fasteners

  • Contact between rotating and stationary parts

A video can support the review but does not replace measured data. It should show the pump identification and test instruments.

5. Sealing and Submerged Operation

Because a deep well pump operates underwater, sealing and cable integrity must be reviewed before shipment.

Checks depend on the motor construction and may include submerged running, leakage observation, cable-joint inspection and verification of the filling procedure.

For water-filled motors, the filling and venting instructions should be supplied with the pump. Shipping condition must also be clear so the installer knows whether clean water must be added before startup.

A joint may look insulated but fail after immersion if it is not water-tight. If the factory supplies an extended cable or underwater splice, record its construction and length.

6. Documents Buyers Should Request

Before production, buyers should state which documents are required. Adding documentation after testing may mean that the necessary measurements or photographs were never recorded.

A practical document package can include:

  • Approved technical data sheet

  • Pump performance curve

  • Nameplate photograph

  • Factory test record

  • Test photographs or video

  • Material certificate, when required

  • Motor electrical data

  • Dimensional drawing

  • Packing list

  • Installation and operating instructions

  • Control-panel drawing, if supplied

Special projects may require third-party witnessing, calibrated-instrument certificates or a formal factory acceptance test procedure. These requirements should be agreed during quotation because they can affect cost and production time.

Routine Testing and Witnessed FAT Are Different

We test our submersible pumps before delivery, but buyers should not assume that every order automatically includes a customer-witnessed test covering every curve point and document.

A routine factory test follows the manufacturer's production and quality-control process. A witnessed FAT is normally based on an approved procedure, defined acceptance criteria and an agreed schedule. The buyer, consultant or third-party inspector may attend in person or review the test remotely.

For large pumps, customized materials or critical projects, a detailed FAT can reduce uncertainty. For standard orders, a routine report, photographs and nameplate confirmation may be sufficient.

The correct scope depends on the project risk and contract requirements.

Final Inspection Before Packing

Passing the operating test is not the last step. Before packing, we confirm that the delivered equipment matches the packing list.

The final check should cover:

  • Pump and motor identification

  • Cable length

  • Control panel and electrical accessories

  • Check valve or outlet parts included in the order

  • Spare parts and tools

  • Manuals and test documents

  • Lifting points and transport supports

  • Moisture and impact protection

Heavy multistage pumps must be supported so transport loads do not damage the shaft, cable or hydraulic section.

Information to Send With Your Test Request

To prepare the correct inspection scope, send us:

  • Selected pump model

  • Required flow and total dynamic head

  • Voltage, frequency and phase

  • Well casing internal diameter

  • Pump installation depth

  • Required cable length

  • Starting method or VFD model

  • Material requirements

  • Required test points

  • Acceptance tolerances or project standard

  • Required certificates and reports

  • Witness or remote-video requirements

If the model has not yet been selected, send the operating data first. We will confirm the hydraulic and electrical configuration before discussing the test plan.

Conclusion

Factory testing should verify the actual pump that will be shipped, not only show that a similar pump can run.

At SLAPK, we recommend checking the nameplate, dimensions, electrical data, hydraulic duty, running condition, sealing arrangement, supplied documents and packing scope as one complete process.

Clear requirements reduce the risk of receiving the wrong electrical configuration, incomplete accessories or performance that does not match the approved duty.

Send us your pump duty, electrical supply, well dimensions and required test documents. We can prepare the pump selection and pre-shipment inspection scope for your project.
